West Bromwich defender Ahmed Hegazi suffered another injury setback after hurting his hamstring during Saturday's 1-0 loss to Wigan Athletic in the English Championship (second division).

The Egyptian international missed large chunks of the first half of the season due to an ankle injury he picked up last summer, and he looks set for another spell on the sidelines.

Hegazi was substituted two minutes before the break in West Brom's game against Wigan, with coach Slaven Bilic bemoaning the 29-year-old's bad luck.

"Yes, it's hamstring. It's disappointing for him. He's done really well, he worked so hard to get back in the team. Since he came back he was outstanding for us," Bilic told a news conference.

"That energy from the back. Unfortunately he done it. It's too early to say how bad it is. We have to wait for the scan, but it's definitely not a knock, it's not cramp.

"It's not a couple of days. Hopefully it's not a big one. Hopefully he'll be back soon, but we have to wait for the scan."

Hegazi has made 12 appearances in the Championship and FA Cup so far this season. Reports in January linked him with a move to Saudi Arabia's Ittihad, but he eventually stayed put.
