Mohamed Zidan has scored his sixth goal in as many Bundesliga appearances since joining Mainz from January as his side secured a 2-1 home victory over Nurnberg on Saturday.

The Egyptian forward, who joined Mainz from league holders Borussia Dortmund, put his side 2-0 up midway through the first half when his angled free-kick evaded Nurnberg defenders and went in off the post.

He had already become the first player to score in his first five games for a new club since 1994 when he netted against ex-club  Dortmund last week.

Nicolai Muller put Mainz ahead after two minutes after being set up by Cameroon’s Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Daniel Didavi scored a consolation for Nurnberg four minutes past the hour mark.
