Ismaily defender Ahmed Samir Farag has signed a two-year contract with Lierse, the Belgian Egyptian-owned club announced on Wednesday.

“We'be been following this player for quite some time. Our coaching team has scouted him on a number of occasions,” Lierse executive manager Jesse De Preter told the club official website.

“Farag is on the basis of the scouting reports considered a good acquisition on the left side.”

The 25-year-old’s only stint in European football was with French side Sochaux, for whom he played at the youth level before being promoted to the first team in 2005. He will join Lierse, who are owned by Egyptian businessman Maged Sami, next season.

The former Ahly man, a free-kick specialist, has been one of Ismaily’s key players since joining in the summer of 2006. However, the Egyptian coastal side failed in their attempts to extend Farag’s deal, which runs out in the summer.
