Liverpool's winger Mohamed Salah was named Standard Chartered Player of the Month [player of the month prize in the English Premier League] for December, the club announced on Saturday with the Egyptian international wishing the Reds more trophies in the coming period.

"Thank you very much, it's nice but we just need to win some games from the upcoming games,” the 28-year-old Egyptian international told upon being presented with the award.
"The situation is not great at the moment but we just need to focus on each game and stay together and carry on,” he added.
The former Chelsea and AS Roma player Salah has scored six times in eight appearances during the month of December, maintaining his position as Liverpool’s top goalscorer with 13 goals so far this term.
According to Liverpool’s official website on Saturday, Salah saw off competition from Brazilan duo Fabinho and Roberto Firmino to clinch the accolade for the first time in the 2020-21 season.
"I want to thank them [the fans] very much and tell them thank you for voting for me. We just need to stay together, supporting the team and I'm sure everything is going to be fine,” Salah concluded.
Holders Liverpool currently lie fourth in the English Premier League table with 34 points from 19 matches, six points behind leaders Manchester United.
