Galatasaray's on-loan striker Mostafa Mohamed netted his second goal in as many games following his January arrival to guide the team to a precious 1-0 win over Fenerbahce that moved them top of the Turkish league on Saturday.

The red-hot Egypt frontman scored what proved to be the winner nine minutes after the restart following a superb effort to settle the Istanbul derby in Galatasaray's favour.

He skipped past his challenger on the edge of the area before drilling a low shot into the bottom corner to continue his impressive start to life in the Turkish league.

Galatasaray moved level on 48 points with Fenerbahce on top, but the former lead by goal difference.

Mohamed joined Galatasaray from Cairo giants Zamalek on a season-and-a-half loan contract last month, with the Turkish club paying $2 million for his services with an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the year.

He opened his account in a 3-0 league win over Istanbul Basaksehir last Tuesday after converting a second-half penalty.
