Liverpool star winger Mohamed Salah says the Reds are facing a tough season, promising that the team will do its best to achieve better results at both the English Premier League and also the UEFA Champions League.
“I just want to say thank you very much for voting for me. We’re going to give our 100 percent to win the next few games and hopefully we can do that and do good also in the Champions League,” Salah told Liverpool’s official website after being named Standard Chartered Men’s Player of the Month for February.
“It’s a good feeling and I’m happy about our last results, so hopefully we can just keep winning,” he added.
The 28-year-old Salah won the award for the third consecutive month after passing teammates Curtis Jones and Trent Alexander-Arnold in the latest fan poll.
Holders Liverpool are struggling in the Premier League this season, as they currently lie seventh with 46 points from 29 matches, 25 points behind leaders Manchester City, who played one match more. The Reds won 13 matches, held to a draw seven times and lost the remaining nine games.
As a top-four finish at the Premier League isn’t guaranteed, Liverpool still have a chance at winning this year’s Champions League, where they were recently paired with Real Madrid in the quarter-finals after brushing aside RB Leipzig in the last-16.
“It’s tough for all of us because of the situation we have been through and our position in the Premier League, but I believe it’s going to be better. In the Champions League we are doing good,” Salah said.
Salah, the current Premier League top scorer alongside Tottenham’s striker Harry Kane with 17 goals for each, delivered outstanding performances during February to win the Player of the Month prize.
The Pharaohs star has started in all six games of his team in February, netting three times and taking his overall tally for the current campaign to 24 goals.
“I don’t want to just talk about my season because we play as a team, so I’d say it’s a tough season for all of us and we just need to carry on and try to win games,” Salah concluded.
