Aston Villa coach Dean Smith announced on Friday that Egyptian winger Mahmoud ‘Trezeguet’ Hassan could be out of action until the end of the year due to the knee injury that has sidelined him since the start of the new season of the English Premier League.

The Aston Villa winger sustained knee ligament damage in the team's 2-1 defeat by Liverpool in the Premier League last April and underwent surgery before being ruled out for the rest of the 2020/21 campaign.

"Trezeguet couldn't be able to play again until the end of the year," Dean Smithtold a press conference ahead of the game against Everton in the fifth matchday of the English Premier League.

The 26-year-old Trezeguet, who is one of the Villans’ key players, participated in 22 games last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists.

Aston Villa are 12th in the English Premier League teams' table with four points after playing four games so far this season.

The Egyptian winger missed Egypt's opening two games against Angola and Gabon in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers and will continue to be absent from Pharaohs' squad for the coming decisive games against Libya next month.
