The 22-year-old winger provided an assist for the first goal of Stuttgart’s 2-0 win over Wolfsburg, but missed the Panenka penalty after it was denied by the bar.
The Egyptian winger joined Stuttgart from Wolfsburg on loan until the end of the season in August.
“I tried to secure the victory for my team while shooting the penalty kick,” Marmoush wrote on his Instagram account. “I always respect the opponents specially Wolfsburg whom I appreciate a lot.”
The Panenka is a technique used while shooting a penalty kick in which the player instead of kicking the ball to the left or right of the goalkeeper, gives a light touch underneath the ball, causing it to rise and fall within the centre of the goal.
“I am sorry for the way I kicked the penalty that may cause wrong impression to the supporters,” Marmoush said.
Marmoush made 10 appearances with Stuttgart so far this season as he scored two goals and provided 3 assists.
