Egypt and Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah has finished third in the FIFA Player of the Year Award behind winner Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi.

Liverpool s Egyptian midfielder Mohamed Salah

The 29-year-old striker earned 39 scoring points, behind Bayern striker Lewandowski who won 48 scoring points, and PSG forward Messi who won 44 scoring points.

Salah won 271 points from the coaches' votes, 176 points from the captains' votes and 528,245 points from the fans votes.

This is the second time Salah has finished among the finalists, as he also came third in 2018 behind winner Luka Modric and runner up Cristiano Ronaldo.

Salah literally carried Liverpool on his back to finish in the top four courtesy of his 22 Premier League goals last season in addition to six UEFA Champions League goals.

The Egyptian King became the first Liverpool player to score 20-plus goals in three Premier League seasons.

He is not slowing this season, as he bagged 16 Premier League goals in addition to nine assists to sit comfortably at the top of the scorers chart in January.

For many pundits, soccer stars and fans, he is unarguably the best player in the world at the moment.

“In my head, I always believe I am the best player in the world. I have to think that way and prove it every day. One day I hope I will win it too,” Salah said previously.

Not this time Mo, but hopefully soon.
