Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah said that though his team is set on winning the game against Manchester City the key is "not to lose" to keep their hopes of winning the title this year alive.

“When you play city away you need first not to consider goals and try to go for the win that’s the most important thing,” Salah told Sky Sports.

Manchester City, the English Premier League title holders, will host Liverpool in the 32nd matchday on Sunday with the two teams locked in a tight race for this year's trophy.

Man City are in the driving seat of the league’s table with 73 points, one point ahead of runners-up Liverpool.

“The most important thing for us is not to lose the game then everything still in the game, but if you lose the gap is going to be bigger,” he added.

“The manger talked to us today and he said just like enjoy the moment and just go for it so we are going to do what he said,” Salah revealed.

The 29-year-old Egyptian international, who is in sensitive contract extension negotiations with the Reds, netted 153 goals in 241 games and provided 57 assists since he joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.

He has already claimed eight trophies with the Reds, including the UEFA Champions League title in the 2018/19 season as well as the 2020 English Premier League title, which had eluded the team since 1981.

Salah has become the second fastest Liverpool player to break the 150-goal mark, just behind Roger Hunt, who achieved that feat in 226 games.
