Klopp commented on Salah’s performance ahead of the game against Manchester City in the semi-final of the FA Cup on Saturday, praising the role he played with Egypt’s national team during the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
“He had the most intense period in his whole career in January,” Klopp told a press conference ahead of the game against Man City.
The 29-year-old winger played an influential role in leading the Pharaohs to the final game of the 2021 African Cup of Nations that took place in Cameroon from 6 January to 9 February.
The Pharaohs, however, lost to Senegal on penalties following a 0-0 draw in the final game of the prestigious continental tournament.
“The tournament went down to the wire; they played the final but most of their games were 120 minutes long,” Klopp added.
“His role in the team is super, and it is a massive responsibility on his shoulders.” The Liverpool boss concluded.
Salah netted 153 goals in 240 games and provided 57 assists since he joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.
He has already claimed eight trophies with the Reds, including the UEFA Champions League title in the 2018/19 season as well as the 2020 English Premier League title, which had eluded the team since 1981.
Moreover, Salah has become the second fastest Liverpool player to break the 150-goal mark, just behind Roger Hunt, who achieved that feat in 226 games.
