The 29-year-old midfielder booked a regular place in Arsenal starting lineups in back-to-back games after a longtime of warming the bench. He provided assist during the 3-1 victory over Manchester United when he sent the ball to Xhaka who shot a straight rock from outside the area.
“I am training every day to be ready for the games regardless of will I start or stay on the bench,” Elneny told a television programme after the game.
“I believe in myself and I believe the chance will come one-day,” he stressed.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta extoled the performance of Elneny ahead of their clash against Manchester United, saying that he is one of the most important players on the team.
“He (Elneny) is a phenomenal person and then you have to judge the footballer as well that sometimes does not get probably the credit that he deserves,” Arteta told the pre-match press conference.
Meanwhile, Elneny said that he is always ready to book a regular place in the team’s starting lineups.
“I always follow the players inside the playground to be ready for the participation and to be a harmony with them,” he added.
Elneny, who joined Arsenal from Swiss side Basel in January 2016, was close to joining Turkish giants Galatasaray last summer, but the English Premier League side refused the offer, according to Sky Sports.
The Egyptian international has made 142 appearances with Arsenal in all competitions since his arrival, scoring five goals and providing 10 assists. He played only 12 games this term.
Arsenal are 4th on the English Premier League table with 60 points, 3 points over third placed Tottenham as the two sides are in race to book a ticket to the next season UEFA Champions League.
