Talks between Wolfsburg’s Egyptian winger Omar Marmoush and the Bundesliga side regarding a new deal met with many difficulties, German sports magazine Kicker reported on Monday.

Marmoush’s contract with Wolfsburg expires in June 2023, after which he will be eligible to sign for any club as a free agent next January.

According to Kicker, Wolfsburg's offer does not meet the player's financial demands, which makes a deal between Marmoush and Wolfsburg a remote possibility.

The former Wadi Degla winger joined Wolfsburg II in the summer of 2017 before being promoted to VFL Wolfsburg in the summer of 2020.

The 23-year-old scored three goals in 17 appearances with Wolfsburg on all fronts this season.

Little known in Egypt until the end of 2021, Marmoush became a key player of Egypt's squad as former Pharaohs coach Carlos Queiroz introduced him as a regular member.

He took part in all seven games that the Pharaohs played during the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon in February before they lost in the final to Senegal on penalties.

Marmoush also played against Senegal in their double header in the final round of World Cup qualifiers that saw the Pharaohs lose to the Teranga Lions 1-3 on shoot out.

Pharaohs current coach Rui Vitoria followed in the footsteps of his predecessor in relying on the Wolfsburg winger in the left flank.

Marmoush who started his international career in October 2021 has 15 caps, scoring twice so far.
