Egyptian winger Omar Marmoush has joined Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt from rivals VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer starting from next season, the German club announced on Monday.

“Welcome to Frankfurt, Omar! We are excited to have you in the heart of Europe,” Frankfurt said in a statement on its official website.

“Eintracht Frankfurt are continuing to shape their squad for the coming season with the signing of Marmoush on a contract valid until 30 June 2027,” the statement added.

The departure of the 24-year-old attacker from VfL Wolfsburg was confirmed when the club announced earlier in April that they would not renew his contract after failing to reach a mutual agreement.

“In Omar Marmoush we have signed a player whose abilities will give our attack even greater flexibility. Omar has already proven his qualities in the Bundesliga, but at the same time he still has great potential to develop further,” Eintracht’s board member Markus Krösche was quoted as saying by the club’s official website.

“We are pleased that we were able to bring such an exciting and talented player to Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer,” he added.

Marmoush joined Wolfsburg in 2017 and made his debut in May 2020 against Bayer Leverkusen. He spent two stints on loan at St Pauli and VfB Stuttgart over the last two seasons to gain more experience.

During his six-year spell at Wolfsburg, Marmoush has made 46 appearances so far with the club.

In the current season, the Egyptian international has made 34 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg, scoring five goals. He also played one Europa League match and five DFB Cup games, scoring once.

At the international level, Marmoush made his debut with Egypt’s senior national team in 2021, netting four goals in 17 appearances to date.
