Cameroonian forward Ignatius Kpene Ganago scored the winning goal in the 16th minute.

Mohamed was kept on the bench during the game.

The Canaris were in a two-way fight with Auxerre, who lost 3-1 to second-placed Lens, that led them to relegation alongside Troyes, Ajaccio and Angers.

Nantes are now 16 in the French League table with 36 points, while Auxerre dropped to 17 with one point less.

Mostafa Mohamed’s future with Nantes remains unclear, as the French side haven’t triggered yet his buy-out clause from Turkish side Galatasaray.
