Morocco's Raja president announced on Thursday that the club has reached an agreement with Egyptian free agent winger Amr Warda to join the team for two seasons.

"We have successfully concluded all the financial and managerial details with Warda for his inclusion in the team," stated Raja's president on television.

"The player is currently waiting for the visa to enter Moroccan territory in order to finalize the paperwork. Warda is an exceptional player, and we are actively working to bring talented Egyptian players to Raja," added the club president.

The 29-year-old winger became a free agent after his contract with Cypriot sports club Apollon Limassol FC expired earlier this summer.

Warda joined Apollon Limassol FC in January 2023, having previously played for Cypriot club Anorthosis, where he made 19 appearances and scored four goals.

Warda, who played a crucial role in PAOK's victory in the Greek Cup in May 2021, was committed to PAOK under a contract that was set to run until the summer of 2022.

Having started his overseas career in August 2015, Warda signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Greek club Panetolikos, departing from his hometown club, Ahly, on a free transfer.

Warda's European football journey has been inconsistent, marred by accusations of a lack of commitment.

In the summer of 2017, just seven months after joining PAOK, he moved to Feirense.

However, the loan agreement with the Portuguese side was annulled a mere three days later, citing ethical reasons at the time.

Warda had three other loan spells away from PAOK, two at Atromitos and one at Larissa, amidst several reported disputes with PAOK's management and coaches at different times.

The Egyptian winger was a member of the national team that participated in the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

Raja finished last season's Moroccan top-flight league in fifth place with 44 points, trailing 23 points behind champions FAR Rabat.
