Raja Club Athletic of Morocco announced on Thursday the abrupt termination of the contract of their newly signed Egyptian winger Amr Warda.

The move comes 12 days after Warda's signing and is attributed to "psychological and personal reasons," according to an official statement on the club's Facebook page.

"In light of Amr Warda's request for termination due to psychological and personal reasons, we have come to a mutual agreement to end his contract," the statement read.

The announcement outlined that both parties have amicably agreed on an arrangement wherein Warda will fulfil the necessary contractual obligations to facilitate his release, thereby averting potential legal complications.

Warda, a free agent,  joined Raja Club Athletic two weeks ago, signing a two-year contract with the Moroccan team.

The club had unveiled their newly acquired talent through a video that rapidly gained traction on Facebook.

The 29-year-old winger became a free agent after his contract with Cypriot sports club Apollon Limassol FC expired earlier this summer.

However, Warda's eight-year European journey was marred by a poor disciplinary record.

Nonetheless, he achieved notable success, including winning the Greek Super League title in 2019 and was awarded the Best Player accolade in Greece in 2018.

This is not the first time Warda has parted ways with a club due to disciplinary issues.

In May 2020, Greek club AE Larisa terminated his loan deal, citing serious disciplinary offenses.

Club president Alexis Kougia initially released a statement on the official website without disclosing specific details.

He later revealed that Warda was dismissed for repeatedly missing training sessions without permission.

Warda represented Egypt's national team in major tournaments, such as the 2018 World Cup and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, showcasing his talent on an international scale.

In the previous season, Raja Club Athletic finished fifth in the Moroccan top-flight league with 44 points, trailing 23 points behind the champions FAR Rabat.
