Basel striker Mohamed Salah could be a major doubt for the Eurpean Champions League game against Romanian side CFR Cluj Wednesday because of a leg injury he sustained during the 2-1 loss to St Gallen in the Swiss Super League on Saturday.

The 21-year-old forward, who moved to Basel from Egyptian side Arab Contractors this summer, played 53 minutes in Saturday's Super League before he was substituted after injuring his leg.

The young Pharaohs forward had produced a string of fine displays with Basel since he put on their jersey. He netted his first goal for the Swiss side in his third appearance with the team and was named the man of the match by FC Basel fans following an impressive performance against FC Thun 3-1.

Salah performed superbly with Egypt at the London Games, scoring one goal in three games (three goals total).

The Swiss side are scheduled to face CFR Cluj in the second leg of the European Champions League qualifiers Wednesday, since they lost the 1st first leg 2-1 two weeks ago.
