Speaking at the pre-game press conference on Sunday, Hegazi said: "One of the best moments for any football player is to play, so I am very happy about my return."

He also emphasized the hard work he put in with the club and medical staff to make a swift recovery from the injury.

Ittihad Jeddah is set to compete against Sepahan FC in the sixth round of Group C games in the AFC Champions League on Monday.

"The club's history leaves us with no option but to win every game. All the games are very important for us, and we hope to win and maintain our lead in the group tomorrow," Hegazi stated.

Having secured their place in the quarterfinals of the AFC Champions League by topping Group C with 12 points, Ittihad Jeddah aims to defeat Sepahan FC on Monday and finish the group stage at the summit.

The 32-year-old Egyptian defender returned to action after recovering from a cruciate ligament injury, just in time for Ittihad Jeddah's preparations for the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.

Hegazi had missed all of Ittihad's games since the start of the current season to complete his rehabilitation programme.

Since joining Ittihad from the former English Premier League club West Bromwich Albion in October 2020, Hegazi has been an integral part of the team's success.
