Ahram Online , Sunday 4 Feb 2024

Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazi delivered an outstanding performance for Ittihad Jeddah, scoring twice for the first time in his career as his team secured a 4-2 victory over Al-Faysali in the quarterfinals of the Saudi Cup on Sunday.

In the 67th minute, Hegazi found the back of the net with a well-placed shot from inside the area to notch his side's third goal.

He followed up with a nice header in the 80th minute to seal the victory.

This game marked Hegazi's debut appearance for the Saudi club after a year-long absence due to a serious knee injury.

While he had represented the Egyptian national team in the recent Nations Cup, this was his first game at the club level since his return.

Hegazi's participation in the Nations Cup was marred by criticism, as his performance failed to meet expectations.

The Egyptian national team made an early exit from the competition in the round of 16.
