"I spoke with Salah, and he informed me that his injury has resurfaced. He's adhering to a rehabilitation regimen and gradually returning to match fitness, hence there's no necessity to call him up while he's not fully fit. After discussions with Hossam Hassan, we concurred that it's preferable for him to stay with his club," Sobhy told ONSport FM radio on Monday.

Salah sustained a hamstring injury during the Africa Cup of Nations in January. Despite his return against Brentford on 17 February , he encountered another setback, sidelining him for nearly four weeks. He played for 16 minutes against Sparta Prague in the Europa League on Thursday and 45 minutes against Manchester City on Sunday.

Initially named in Egypt coach Hossam Hassan's 7-man foreign-based list, Salah was subsequently omitted from the 25-man squad traveling to the United Arab Emirates for a friendly tournament from 22 to 26 March amid speculation of discord between the two.

"Salah encountered some issues with federation members post-2018, but those are now resolved. We acknowledge Salah's contributions and value him, yet simultaneously prioritize the national team's best interests. Hossam Hassan will assess all other players during this friendly tournament. He doesn't need to evaluate Salah," Sobhy added.

Egypt iconic striker Hossam Hassan has been appointed as head coach of the Pharaohs in February successing Rui Vitoria and is set to make his debut against New Zealand on 22 March.
