“Happy New Year, a dream for some a nightmare for others. 2025 stop the genocide,” Morsy posted on his X account on Wednesday.

Morsy has been one of the most outspoken advocates for Palestinian rights among footballers in England since the start of the Israeli genocidal war on the Palestinians on 7 October 2023.

Shortly after 7 October, the 33-year-old Egypt international declared his support for Gaza in a post on X: "Never be silent... Free Palestine."

In June, Morsy participated in a high-profile charity match organized by Dutch footballer Anwar El Ghazi to raise funds for Palestinian aid organizations.

The match at The Hive Stadium, home to Barnet FC, featured a lineup of football stars, including former internationals Eric Abidal, Bacary Sagna, and Adlène Guedioura.

In 2024, Sam Morsy led Ipswich Town back to the Premier League after a 22-year absence.
