While the terms of the agreement were not disclosed, British media report that the 32-year-old forward has signed a two-year extension. Salah will also reportedly receive a £50,000 weekly increase, taking his total earnings to around £400,000 per week including bonuses—making him one of the highest-paid players in the Premier League.
“It’s great to be here another two years,” Salah told the club’s official website. “I’m happy to sign a new contract. I believe we can win a lot of big trophies together.”
Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and has since become one of the club’s all-time greats. He has scored 243 goals in 394 appearances—third on the club’s all-time list—and helped Liverpool win seven major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League.
“This club means everything to me,” Salah said. “I’ve had my best years here. I came when I was 24, 25… I’ve grown as a person and as a player. Hopefully it’s going to be 10 years now. I’m enjoying my life here, enjoying my football.”
Salah has continued to shine this season, netting 32 goals and registering 22 assists in 45 appearances. His 27 goals in the Premier League currently top the scoring charts.
“I just want to win the Premier League more than anything else,” he added. “Last time we won it, we didn’t celebrate it properly because of COVID. The fans deserve to enjoy it the right way this time.”
His family, Salah said, were also thrilled by the news. “They feel at home. Magi and the kids were very happy. I think Makka was the happiest one because her friends are here and she loves her school.”
Reacting to the announcement, Liverpool manager Arne Slot said, “Happy, of course. He’s shown for so many years in a row how much value he has for the team and the club. We are very happy he has extended for two more years. Hopefully he can show on Sunday again how important he is.”
“He’s always judged as a footballer, but he’s a humble human being and puts in a lot of effort to get to that level. He is mentally so strong—and you need that if you are to succeed here for eight years.” Slot added.
Salah has won three Premier League Golden Boots, been named PFA Players’ Player of the Year twice, and claimed two FWA Footballer of the Year awards. Yet for Salah, team success remains paramount.
“When you win something with the team and you’re scoring and involved—that’s what people remember,” he said. “Individual awards without winning anything don’t feel great.”
Salah also embraced his leadership role within the squad. “I try to be professional here and at home,” he said. “The young players are smart—they try to copy what I do. I’m happy when they come to me with questions. I’ve been in their place before.”
With his future now secured, Salah is focused on leading Liverpool toward more silverware.
“We are closer than ever,” he said. “We can win it at Anfield. That drives me crazy every day—to come to work, push myself and the others. Let’s give it a try and make it happen.”
