Egyptian winger Ahmed Refaat has spent a one-week trial with FC Basel as he seeks to join compatriots Mohamed Salah and Mohamed El-Neny at the Swiss side.

“We look at him, and then we'll see,” FCB chief scout Ruedi Zbinden was quoted as saying by Swiss paper Aargauer Zeitung.

Egypt forward Salah produced some impressive displays with Basel this season, scoring five league goals since joining last summer from Egypt’s Arab Contractors.

Midfielder El-Neny, who also joined from Arab Contractors,  has quickly established himself as a regular first-team player.

“Refaat has similarly good attributes as Salah,” Zbinden added.

Refaat, who plays for Egyptian Premier League club ENPPI, was a key player of the U-20 national team which won their fourth African Championship title last month.
