Despite his team’s precious 1-0 home win over Tunisian side Club Africain in the first leg of round 16 of the African Champions League, Sudanese Al Hilal coach Micho Sredojevic lamented the missed chances by his players.

“It was an exciting game. We could have achieved a larger victory but we lost a lot of chances. Club Africain is a respectable team and we were not fortunate against them,” the Serbian coach was quoted as saying by Sudanese newspaper Goan Sport on Monday.

“Losing Haytham Mostafa and Yousef Mohamed in the second half affected us a lot. We scored one goal but we had the upper hand as we dominated the whole game,” he added.

Club Africain will host the Sudanese league titleholders in Tunisia in the second leg after two weeks, but Al Hilal coach is optimistic about his teams’ opportunities to win.

“Our mission will not be easy, but we will attack to assure our place in the coming round. Our fans must support the players to play with more power and determination there,” he concluded.

Club Africain coach Kais Yacoubi vented his anger on the unacceptable standard of the referee, but he was optimistic about recovering in the second leg at home.

“We did our best in the game, but beating Al Hilal on their pitch is not an easy mission as they are a fierce team. It is not a disturbing defeat as they had a lot of missed chances,” Yacoubi was quoted as saying by Sudanese newspaper Goan Sport.

“We will reform our mistakes and I am sure we will win at home,” he added.
