DR Congo champions TP Mazembe reached the semi-final of the African Champions League after beating Sudanese side Al-Hilal 3-1 on Sunday.
Rainford Kalaba, 27, gave the hosts a first half lead in a quiet contested period. The Congolese shifted up a gear in the second half and found the net twice through Solomon Asante, 60, and Cheibane Traore, 76, while Mudather Al-Tayeb scored a late consolation goal in injury time.
The four-time African champions are now at the top of Group A with 10 points, three ahead of AS Vita club, who will play Zamalek later on Sunday.
The Egyptian giants – who have only four points after four matches – are in a must-win situation to revive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals.
