Morocco's Mehdi Benatia said he is elated after sealing a "dream move" to German giants Bayern Munich, expressing his determination to help the club to further success.
The central defender completed his move from AS Roma to Bayern Munich after signing a five-year contract on Tuesday.
Benatia has been one of Roma's most consistent performers since joining from Udinese in the summer of 2013.
The 27-year-old caught the eyes with some solid displays at the heart of Roma's defence as they finished as runners up in the Italian Serie A last season.
"I am happy that finally the move to Bayern Munich has been worked out,”Benatia told Sport1 in an interview.
"It has been a bit drawn out and during this time I thought the move may break down.
"I had a great time in Rome, but now I am looking forward to a new chapter in my life."
The Moroccan international said he is proud to be part of Bayern's squad, expressing his delight to work under the guidance of coach Pep Guardiola.
"In Bavaria there are many great players, the squad is excellent. This is a dream, as from now I will be a part of it," he said.
"Pep Guardiola strongly wanted me. I am looking forward to working with him. He is a great Coach.
"I am ready to help Bayern become even stronger and will do my best to ensure that we have a successful season and that the fans are happy.”
