South Africa embarrass Sudan with a 3-0 victory in Khartoum in their opening Group A game of the African Nations Cup qualifiers

South Africa opened their African Nations Cup qualifying campaign with a 3-0 rout of Sudan in Khartoum in Group A on Friday.

Substitute Sibusiso Vilakazi opened the scoring on 55 minutes when his low shot at the back post evaded three defenders after Sudan's keeper fumbled a tame effort.

He notched his second of the night six minutes later when he skipped past his challenger in the area and sent a right-foot shot that struck the keeper's hands and went in as Sudan's defence collapsed.

Bongani Ndulula completed the rout with 11 minutes remaining with a simple tap-in at the far post following a low cross from the left.

Defending champions Nigeria face Congo in the other Group A match on Friday. The top two in each group will directly qualify for next year's Morocco finals.
