Senegal failed to move three points clear on top of Group G of the African Cup of Nations qualifiers after being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Tunisia on Friday.
Tunisia survived a Senegalese onslaught at times and were even dangerous on the break, holding firm to claim a point on the road.
Senegal could have snatched a victory with 13 minutes remaining when Tunisia goalkeeper Aymen Mathlouthi misjudged what looked a tame free-kick that was floated into the area but he somehow smothered it with a quick reflex save.
The hosts also had a penalty claim waved away by the referee in the dying minutes for an apparent handball on a Tunisian defender.
Both sides have seven points from three games, with Senegal leading the group on goal difference. Egypt, who defeated Botswana 2-0 earlier in the day, are third with three points while Botswana are rooted to the bottom with no points.
