Algeria star Yacine Brahimi has been named La Liga Best African Player of the 2013-14 season at Spain's official LFP awards ceremony.

Brahimi, who was instrumental in Algeria's impressive World Cup campaign last summer where he scored a goal in the 4-2 group stage win over South Korea, was also in scintillating form for Granada last season.

He hit three goals for the Spanish outfit in 35 league appearances, including the winner in a stunning 1-0 victory over eventual runners-up Barcelona in April.

Brahimi, 24, beat off competition from Moroccan ex-Granada teammate Youssef El-Arabi to claim the award, despite the latter grabbing 12 goals for the La Liga outfit last season.

Renowned for his trickery and neat dribbling skills, Brahimi caught the attention of Portuguese giants Porto to seal a £5.1million move to the Primiera Liga in the close season.
