Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Bony – who recently signed for England champions Manchester City - believes he worked hard to deserve a place in one of Europe's top clubs.
"If I got rewarded it is not because of the beauty of my hair, I worked hard all over the years to be there," Bony told French magazine France Football in an interview published on Thursday.
The 26-year old striker made an impressive scoring run in the Premier League becoming its top scorer in the calendar year 2014 with 20 goals.
Manchester City had to splash £28 million to sign the 26-year old athletic forward who is now the most expensive African player ever.
"It was a very particular moment to sign for City who are one of the best teams in the World. It is an important step forward that came at a very important time of my career," he added.
Bony revealed that City have been pursuing him for a year now and that he knows he will face a tough competition with strikers like Sergio Aguero, Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic.
He said that Yaya Toure also influenced his choice.
"It is an honor to play with him at City. He is someone good who gave me a lot of advices. He is like a big brother to me and I will show him my appreciation with my hard work," he concluded.
