Tunisian giants Esperance de Tunis have appointed Portuguese coach Jose Manuel Ferreira De Morais as the team's new manager, the club announced on Tuesday.

De Morais replaces coach Khaled Ben Yahya who was shown the door after the team's poor results in the Tunisian League.

The 26-time Tunisian champions are fourth in the league table with 25 points, eight behind leaders Club Africain.

The 49-year-old was one of Jose Mourinho's assistants at Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Chelsea.

He had a previous experience with the Tunisian side as he spent a short spell with Esperence in 2009.
