Inter Milan coach Leonardo lavished praise on Samuel Eto’o as the Cameroonian striker gets ready to make his 100th appearance for the club on Sunday.
“If we look at what he has achieved in recent years, including this one, you cannot deny Eto’o is one of the greatest players in the world,” The Brazilian tactician was quoted as saying on Football Italia.
The 30-year-old striker joined the Nerazzurri from Barcelona in 2009 after winning two Champions League and two league titles with the Spanish giants, bagging 107 goals in 144 league games in five seasons.
In his first season at Inter, he led the club to an unprecedented treble - the UEFA Champions League, the Italian league and cup. He also played a pivotal role in helping them win the FIFA Club World Cup in December last year.
“This season only confirms it with the goals scored, different positions he has played in and extraordinary performances,” Leonardo added.
Eto’o, who plays as a centre forward or winger, has been a key player in Inter’s frontline over the past two season, scoring a total of 51 goals in all competitions, including 35 this term.
He will be hoping to add to his tally on his 100thInter appearance on Sunday when the team face Catania.
