Tunisia's Club Sportif Sfaxien officially unveiled Portuguese tactician Paulo Duarte as its new coach at a press conference on Friday.
Earlier on Wednesday, the club announced that they had reached an agreement with Duarte to replace coach Ghazi Gharairi, who recently decided to leave his post following the club's fourth successive draw in the domestic league.
Former Burkina Faso and Gabon coach Duarte has agreed to take the charge of Sfaxien for one season and a half.
"I know that the Sfaxien team is currently suffering after a series of poor results in recent matches," the 46-year-old told Tunisian media. "The club lost three or four important players in the winter transfer window, and now others are missing due to injuries. We should solve this problem as soon as possible."
"We need full support from the club fans and we promise them better results," added Duarte, who has previously worked twice as coach at club level, with Portugal's Uniao Leiria and Le Mans of France.
Under Gharairi's guidance, Sfaxien only secured one win in the last six league matches to lie fourth in the tournament's table with 40 points, 6 behind leaders Club Africain.
Sfaxien is also competing in the African Champions league this season, after reaching the round of 16, passing Togo's AC Semassi earlier in April.
