Steven Piennar has decided to postpone planned surgery to play against Egypt in Saturday's crucial game for the 2012 African Cup of Nations (ACN) qualifier.

“The injury has been giving me lots of problems over the last few months. I’ve decided to go for the operation after the game against Egypt,” the 28-year-old captain was quoted as saying on Kickoff.com.

"We're convinced that Steven is okay after thorough medical inspection," Bafana's doctor Nematswerani said.

The Tottenham winger has been suffering from groin and thigh problems for some time now and will have an operation right after his return from Egypt.

The crucial game will take place this Sunday, 5 June, in the Military Academy Stadium.

The Pharaohs are in a must-win situation as they are in the bottom of Group G. They have a single point and trail South Africa (seven), Niger (six) and Sierra Leone (two) at the halfway stage.
