Roma have secured the services of Seydou Keita for another season after the Malian midfielder signed a one-year contract extension on Tuesday.
The 35-year-old arrived at Roma last summer and made a number of remarkable plays that helped the team finish second in the Serie A, behind champion Juventus.
The international midfielder expressed his joy after penning a new deal, insisting that he turned down 'very lucrative deals' to stay at Roma.
"I turned down very lucrative offers to stay here, because the club and the fans have always shown me great respect and affection," Keita told the club's official website on Tuesday.
"I’m at a very important stage of my career, and I’m happy to renew with the team. It’s true that money is important, but at my age, respect and affection are also important."
"We’re starting a new season, and I hope that for myself and the team it’s better than last season."
