Ahly playmaker Amir Sayoud delivered two assists in Algeria’s 3-0 win over Zambia in the African qualifiers for the 2012 London Games on Friday.
He helped the North Africans open the scoring after 27 minutes when his superb deep cross found Sid Ahmed Aouadji, who made no mistake from close range.
Algeria doubled their lead on the stroke of halftime following another Sayoud-Aouadji combination. Aouadji rose unmarked to head home a pinpoint free kick from the promising playmaker.
Sayoud could have also scored just before the final whistle but his effort missed the target as he still struggles with poor finishing.
Djamel Eddine Belamri completed the rout in the 65th minute to give Algeria a comprehensive first-leg advantage. The return leg will be played in Lusaka in two weeks’ time.
