Congo's TP Mazembe beat El-Merrikh 3-0 to reach CAF Champions League final

TP Mazembe have reached the CAF Champions League final after beating Sudanese side El-Merrikh3-0 in the second leg of the semi-final in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

The Congolese side overturned a 2-1 first-leg defeat sustained a week ago to advance with a 4-2 aggregate win.

Striker Mbwana Samata scored in the 53rd and 70th minutes and Roger Assale netted the third a minute later to give his side a glorios victory.

Mazembe will take on USMA of Algeria in the final next month.

The Algerian side reached the final at the expense of another Sudanese side, beating El-Hilal 2-1 at home in the second leg following a goalless draw in the first leg in Sudan.

Algeria becomes the first nation in the continent to deliver five different teams to the final of the prestigious competition (MC Alger '76, JS Kabylie '81, '90, Setif '88, '14, MC Oran '89, USMA '15).
