Midfielder Ahmed Ajedou of Morocco side Wydad
“I think Sunday’s draw with Ahly is fair enough, as we played in Cairo,” Ahmed Ajedou, midfielder of Morocco side Wydad, was quoted as saying by Moroccan newspaper Almountakhab after the 3-3 draw to Ahly in Group B of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.
“We suffered from lack of fitness, but we edged to cancel all Ahly's strikes,” he added.
“The team have more mistakes in the defence area but the technical staff will work on it to make harmony between the comers and the old players. I promise Wydad’s fans that we will compete for the championship title,” said the 29-year-old midfielder.
The Moroccan champions top the CAF Champions League Group B with one point and goal difference with Egyptian giants Ahly after Sunday’s draw in Cairo.
The match was played behind closed doors after the Red Devils were fined for the excessive use of fireworks by their fans during the preliminary round game against Zambia's ZESCO United.
