Just a few weeks ahead of Nigeria's double Nations Cup qualifier with Egypt in March, Sunday Oliseh quit his post as the Super Eagles manager

Sunday Oliseh has quit his job as Nigeria manager just less than a month ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations home qualifying clash with Egypt on March 23.

Ex-Nigeria captain and midfield star Oliseh has cited “contract violations, lack of support, unpaid wages, benefits to players and assistant coaches” as reasons behind his surprise decision, which he announced on his personal Twitter account.

"I feel fortunate, blessed and eternally grateful for having had the honor to play, captain & coach this great Nation of ours, Nigeria," wrote Oliseh.

The former Borussia Dortmund defensive midfielder had come under immense pressure after Nigeria failed to get past the group stage of the African Nations Championship.

After hosting Egypt, Nigeria will travel to the Group G leaders five days later – as both teams are currently separated by just two points.

The Nigerian Football Federation has yet to comment on the issue.
