Swiss football manager Alain Geiger has been appointed manager of Algeria’s ES Setif till the end of the current season.
The former Egyptian El-Masry coach succeeds French Jacques Castellan, who resigned earlier this month after not receiving his salary.
“I know we will need some time before we regain the team’s enthusiasm and discipline,” the 50-year old tactician said in a press conference on Tuesday.
Geiger, Switzerland's second most capped player, was last in Algeria in 2010 when he coached JS Kabyliejob, reaching the semi-finals of the 2010 CAF Champions League but then losing to champions TP Mazembe.
Founded in 1985, Entente Sportive Sétifienne holds four Algerian championship trophies and seven cups. They won the Arab Champions League twice in 2007 and 2008 as well as making three appearances in the CAF Champions League.
