Ivory Coast coach Francois Zahoui has decided to exclude his striker Didier Drogba from his squad to play Burundi on Sunday in the final round of the African Cup of Nations 2012.

According to SuperSport.com, the coach’s decision came as a punishment for the 33-year old player following his late arrival for the Elephants training camp.

The former Marseille hitman, Drogba, was supposed that to join his national teammates on Monday, but he surprisingly flew into Abidjan on Wednesday night.

The coach has also decided to strip the captain armband from the two-time African player and set him free to rejoin his English Premiere league club.

Ivory Coast and Botswana have already secured their qualification for the African Cup prior to this final round in addition to co-hosts Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
