Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong wants to play for Ghana but has not been given the green light by world governing body FIFA yet, the Black Stars assistant coach said on Wednesday.

The young star played for England’s youth teams but has yet to represent the Three Lions at the senior level.

“(Ghana boss) Goran Stevanovic spoke to him and I have visited him twice at his home and he is more than willing to play for Ghana,” the team’s assistant coach Akwasi Appiah  told Ghana’s radio.

“We are processing his papers, you know it takes time now his papers are with Fifa and we are waiting for them to give the final decision on his case. Therefore once that is finalised he will be able to play for Ghana.

“As I said we need to clarify his situation that is getting notification that he play for Ghana and if this decision is taken say tomorrow the technical team will meet and take a decision on that.”

Frimpong, who is one of the hottest talents in Ghana, has played four games for Arsenal this season.
