DR Congo's TP Mazembe defeated South Africa's Supersport United in the CAF Confederation Cup final first-leg 2-1 in Lubumbashi on Sunday.

The hosts took the lead through a powerful strike from Adama Traore from outside the area in the 18th minute before Sipho Mbule replied with another shot just two minutes after the break.

Five-time Champions League holders Mazembe, however, ensured they emerged winners from the first leg when Daniel Adjei Nii fired another strike following a corner kick in the 67th minute to end the game 2-1.

The return leg takes place between both teams the following week in Pretoria.
