Morocco Olympic team tactician Peter Tim Verbeek revealed Thursday that his team deserved their 3-2 victory over Egypt and thanked his players for following his instructions throughout the game.

“I wish the Egyptian side good luck in the game against Senegal” Verbeek was quoted as saying on Morocco website Almountakhab.

Egypt can still realise their dream of qualifying directly for the London Olympics after a 20-year absence by beating Senegal on Saturday in the third-place playoff.

“I am very happy for booking an early place in the 2012 London Olympic Games alongside reaching the finals of the U-23 African Championship.” he added. “The technical staff along with players did their best to reach that stage and to develop their performance in the championship.”

Morocco are now through to the tournament’s final where they will face Gabon, who also qualified for the Olympics after beating Senegal 1-0 on Tuesday.

“Gabon are a distinct team as they reached the final game of the championship. I ask Morocco players to snatch the tournament title, warning them from Gabon’s hopes of snatching it.” The 55-year old tactician said. “I am grateful for my players’ performance in the competition.”
