Preparations underway for Sudan team build-up to the African Cup of Nations

Sudan coach Mohamed Abdullah Mazda has expressed his satisfaction withf his team’s current preparations for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (ACN).

The Desert Hawks defeated Qatari club Al-Jaish 2-1 on Tuesday in a friendly match in Doha preparing for the much-anticipated continental tournament to be hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

“I am satisfied with the team's performance. I worked on raising my team's fitness levels and that was obvious in the game,” Mazda was quoted as saying on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) official website.

The Sudanese team will play a number of friendly matches against Tunisia, Senegal and Gabon, which Mazda believes will be of great benefit before the tournament that runs from 21 January until 12 February.

“Sudan still has many friendly games to come and we will make the best use of them. I introduced many different players as I wanted to give the chance to all my players before selecting the final squad which will make the trip to the Cup of Nations,” the coach explained.

Sudan is in group B with Angola, Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast will take on the latest in their opening game on 22 January.
