Cote d'Ivoire, Cape Verde win to move closer to Nations Cup qualification

Cote d’Ivoire secured on Friday the second place in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers Group H after a 4-0 victory over Central African Republic. The win accumulated them 6 points from 3 games, three behind leaders Guinea and ahead of Central African Republic (3 points) and Rwanda (0 points).

Jonathan Kodjia opened the scoring for the hosts after 26 minutes whereas Eric Bailly made it two, only 9 minutes into the second half. Cheikh Doucoure and Maxwell Cornet completed the rout on 59 and 76 minutes.

Earlier in the day, Guinea maintained their perfect run after defeating Rwanda 2-0 to reach their 9th point on their path towards the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

In Group L, Cape Verde moved up to the second place with 4 points after a 3-0 win over Tanzania who are bottom of the group with 2 points. Group leaders, Uganda (4 points) will play Lesotho on Saturday who are 3rd with 2 points.
