AC Milan are keeping their fingers crossed over Ghanaian midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng's physical fitness before they host Arsenal in the first leg of the European Champions League next week.

The central midfielder has been out of action since suffering a left thigh strain during Milan’s 1-0 defeat by arch-rivals Inter Milan last month.

“Boateng and [Alexandre] Pato are recovering. We hope they can train with the squad on Monday and play against Arsenal,” Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri was quoted as saying by football website Kickoff.com on Friday.

Boateng has been one of Milan’s key players since joining from Genoa in the summer of 2010.

The 24-year-old, who missed Ghana’s African Cup of Nations Campaign after announcing his retirement from international football, has scored four goals in 12 Serie A appearances so far this season.
