A double from substitute striker Kwabena Owusu gave Ghana a place in the top four of the ongoing U23 Africa Cup of Nations after firing his side against Mali 2-0 on Thursday in Al-Salam stadium.
The Cordoba striker came off bench just after the break for Robin Polley, to reward his coach faith with two goals on the 74 and 86 minutes respectively.
Ghana advanced to the continental tournament semis due to a better goal difference over Cameroon who slumped to a 2-1 defeat against hosts Egypt on Thursday.
Both sides finished the group stage with four points, five behind leaders Egypt who got a maximum 9 points from three games.
The first three teams in the tournament will represent Africa in the Olympic games in Tokyo 2020.
