Tunisian giants Etoile du Sahel announced on Saturday parting ways with Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido, just one hour ahead of facing rivals CS Chebba in the Tunisian league.

"Garrido won't be in charge of the team against Al-Hilal after parting ways with him amicably," read a short statement on the club's official Facebook page.

Despite the recent achievement in guiding the team to the African Champions League quarterfinal, Garrido's future with the Tunisian side was recently uncertain amid a reported conflict with the club management.

Under the helm of the 50-year-old tactician, who took charge last November, Etoile du Sahel played 13 matches; winning in five, drew in three, and lost five.

Last season's runners-up Etoile du Sahel are struggling since the season start as they currently lie at the sixth place in the league table with 19 points from 13 matches -- 18 points behind leaders Esperance.

Garrido had a previous experience with Egypt's Ahly in 2014, guiding the Red Devils to the Egyptian Super Cup and Confederation Cup titles. After 10 months with Ahly, Garrido was fired due to the team's poor results in the domestic league.
